What has happened to us? It is such a broad question. Let me specify. What has happened to all of the empathy we as a people should have? What is it that drives us to murder, rape, theft, and other wicked awful things? When did it become so right to act so wrong? We have people, adults and children dyeing in the street with no one stopping to help. When did the country, and even more importantly, the globe become so self righteous, so not willing to care? We need to ask ourselves if we want health insurance, or we want health care. Insurance we have, health care we do not. We should be asking why companies are making over a six figure profit off of medication. We need to ask ourselves if we want our children to be educated or to be incarcerated. No matter your political party or whatever religion you belong to, we should be able to live healthy and be well educated, but we do not. Why is being green so expensive, because we are a capitalist country. Capitalism is a wonderful ideal, if it is regulated and not ran by the greediest of the slums.
We have facilities that are currently housing murderers and allowing them to share a cell with a boy who was arrested for an ounce of pot. We are arresting drug addicts, instead of rehabilitating. We are creating a system that will one day rule over us all. Soon, you may be at risk of going to jail if your underage child is "sexting" with another underage child. Although, the law and the name "sexting" are ridiculous they are very much real issues. No, children should not be doing that, agreed, but creating criminals is not the answer. Rehabilitate the one's willing, which brings me to AA.
AA needs to drop God if they are recommended by courts and other governmental funds. What if you are a Muslim drunk, or just a drunk who doesn't believe, it doesn't matter if you want to pray, that is fine, but having steps to recovery including one version of religion seems to push out a large number of people. I have met a woman who has been clean from drugs for six years now, although very proud, she didn't complete AA. She couldn't accept God into her life which resulted in a probation violation. There is something not right with that, in my opinion anyway. Also, sending people to jail and or rehab for pot is a catastrophe in its self. It should be decriminalized not made legal. Let me smoke and grow my own and do not let me buy from someone else, especially the Government.
We have got to work together, all religions, all non religions, all people and persons. We have to see that we bleed the same as well as poop the same, and we are all full of that last one. Love all, hate all, just do it equally and with respect.
